It was never a good sign if the frogs turned up on mass when it was calm like this - generally a portent of something horrendous to follow! On the night of Michael Fish's notorious 1987 October hurricane, many local boats at sea were passed by these boats steaming for Newlyn - their fishing forecast was giving force 12 plus!
